Hola Chicos! Lessons from My First Year of Entrepreneurship
The Year That Changed Everything
Hola chicos! If someone had told me a year ago what entrepreneurship would actually look like, I probably would have laughed — and then cried — and then laughed again. This first year has been the most challenging, rewarding, terrifying, and beautiful experience of my life, and I want to share the lessons that no business course ever taught me.
First, let me be real: there were months where I questioned everything. Months where my bank account was looking sad and my confidence was even sadder. I went from having a comfortable corporate salary with benefits to figuring out how to invoice people and wondering if I was charging too much or too little. But here’s what I learned — discomfort is the price of admission for a life that actually feels like yours. Every scary moment was followed by a breakthrough that reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.
What I’d Tell My Day-One Self
If I could go back to day one, I’d tell myself three things: First, your network is everything — nurture it relentlessly. Second, done is better than perfect — stop overthinking and just ship it. And third, rest is not a reward; it’s a requirement. I burned out twice this year because I thought hustling 24/7 was the only way to prove I was serious. Spoiler alert: it’s not. The best version of your business comes from the best version of you, and that version needs sleep, boundaries, and the occasional Netflix binge. Here’s to year two, chicos. Vamonos.
